About HantaView

Public hantavirus awareness, built in the open

Our Mission

HantaView exists to make accurate, up-to-date hantavirus information accessible to the public. Hantavirus outbreaks receive limited mainstream coverage despite causing significant mortality — particularly in South America, where the Andes strain is the only known hantavirus capable of human-to-human transmission.

We aggregate data from authoritative public health organisations and present it clearly, without speculation or sensationalism.

What We Cover

  • Outbreak tracking — active clusters including the 2026 MV Hondius Andes hantavirus event, sourced directly from WHO Disease Outbreak Notices
  • Global case map — historical country-level case data for endemic regions across the Americas, Europe, and Asia
  • Symptoms & prevention — clinically accurate guidance based on CDC and WHO recommendations
  • News feed — aggregated from Google News, surfacing CDC, WHO, and major health outlet coverage in real time
